What if there were a way to build your business, year in and year out, regardless of fluctuations in the economy? Well, there is. It’s called word-of-mouth. Dollar for dollar, the best advertising in the world is word-of-mouth marketing.

Nielsen’s latest Global Trust in Advertising Report says word-of-mouth is the single best, most effective, long-term type of marketing in the world.

Well that’s great news! Direct Selling is based 100% on recommendations from friends, on word-of-mouth marketing.

The Nielsen report repeats findings from previous years – people don’t trust advertising. What do they trust? Recommendations from friends.

When it comes to swaying consumers, nothing beats word of mouth. That’s because, 92% of people trust recommendations from friends and family above all other forms of advertising when making a purchase decision. That number was up nearly 20% from 2007.

Those findings, however, only begin to highlight the changing advertising model. According to research by Nielsen, less than half of all people still find paid traditional media credible. Since 2009 the credibility of advertising has dropped 24% for television, 20% for magazines, and 25% for newspapers. The numbers are even worse for internet and mobile advertising.

Word-of-mouth has existed for over a thousand years. Other forms of marketing, such as TV, radio, newspapers, billboards, banner ads, email marketing, mobile text marketing, etc have had much shorter life spans, some have gone extinct, some are on their way to being extinct. Word-of-mouth on the other hand will probably exist for another thousands years.

Direct Selling is based 100% on recommendations from friends, on word-of-mouth marketing. The single best, most effective, long-term form of marketing in the world.

Did you know there are millions of people who earn regular monthly bonus checks for their word of mouth recommendations through Direct Selling? Instead of spending money in the local newspaper or TV advertising, Direct Selling companies give their advertising budget to people like you and me for spreading the word. They share all these profits with you and give you a word-of-mouth bonus check for all of your network marketing, for recommending and promoting their products.

How many people get a word of mouth bonus check from their local restaurant, movie theater or shopping mall? Whoa. They don’t, do they? They do the work, but just don’t get paid for it. See, they already do network marketing everyday, but most are not getting paid for it.

So, let your prospects know, “Dollar for dollar, nothing beats word-of-mouth.” And then say:

“There are two types of people in the world, those that get a word-of-mouth advertising bonus check in their mailbox every month and those who don’t. Which group would you like to be in?”

PS: Have you ever driven past dozens of restaurants to eat at the one a friend recommended?

While staying in Puerto Rico for a week, Mike Potillo and I drove our families 33 miles past probably a hundred restaurants to eat at Lechonera Los Pinos in Guavate (Goo-AH-VAH-TEH), a very small barrio in the mountains of Cayey, Puerto Rico. Can you guess why?

As you may know, Mike Potillo is one of the presenters at the Direct Selling Mastermind Event. He helps lead an organization that does $40 million a month in sales, yes about $500 million a year. He understands the power of word-of-mouth marketing. So we shot the short video above while in Guavate, explaining why we did what we did.

Hint, it had something to do with foodies extraordinaire Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern. :)

P.S.: On July 1st Mastermind Event ticket prices increase. This is the best time to get you and your team together to take advantage of the current “advanced ticket pricing” and the specially priced “group rates.”
